As a self-employed business owner who has been running my own online business for several years, I spend a lot of time working in coffee shops. (And when I say a lot, I mean a lot.) If you’ve ever worked from home, you know that sometimes you just need a change of scenery to be productive. It’s so easy to get distracted or bored. Working remotely from a coffee shop is my go-to when I need to mix things up.
Over the years, I’ve tested a lot of spots, ordered way too many lattes, and found several places that I love working from.
If you’re a creative entrepreneur looking for great cafés to work at, here are my favorite coffee shops in Mechanicsburg, PA. Each of these spots has amazing coffee and an environment that makes remote work more fun.
Best Coffee Shops in Mechanicsburg, PA
Idea Coffee
Location: 121 Walden Way (Arcona)
Idea Coffee is the cutest coffee shop! They have two locations in Mechanicsburg: the Arcona and Walden neighborhoods. They’ve been around since 2018 and their goal is to “promote and inspire the community around us”. Idea Coffee embodies those community values through the coffee they serve: Lonely Monk Coffee. Lonely Monk is a local small-batch coffee roaster located in Lemoyne. As a business owner who prioritizes community and connection, I absolutely love that.
Their shop at Arcona is one of my favorite places to work from. It’s spacious and there’s flexible seating options, including tables and small couches. On top of coffee, they also serve pastries and a selection of bagel sandwiches.
My favorite pick from the menu? Their maple pancake latte!
The Cracked Pot
Location: 130 Gettysburg Pike
The Cracked Pot is a coffee shop with an incredible mission. They are a non-profit café that both employs and teaches skills to youth who are aging out of foster care. They help empower these young adults by “providing and teaching basic needs like housing, budgeting, transportation, and mental wellness”.
On top of everything, their shop has the coziest vibes! There are several rooms that feel like living rooms, which are perfect if you want to get comfortable while working. If you’re a parent, there’s also an upstairs kids’ room to keep your children entertained while you sip your coffee.
My favorite picks from the menu? Their Home Sweet Home Latte and Loaded Avocado Toast. YUM! Oh, and you absolutely have to try their Belgian waffles on Waffle Wednesdays.
Down to Earth Cafe
Location: 100 Legacy Park Drive Suite 108
Down to Earth Cafe is another amazing coffee shop I enjoy working at. It’s located in Legacy Park by Landmark Homes. Like their name alludes, Down to Earth Cafe is very environmentally-conscious. They focus on sustainability by serving a variety of locally-sourced food and drinks. And just like Idea Coffee, they also serve Lonely Monk beans. There are tons of seating options to choose from and all the plants around the shop make you feel right at home.
My favorite pick from the menu? Their açaí bowl!
Denim Coffee
Location: 36 W. Main Street
Last but not least, you’ve got to check out Denim Coffee. They’re right on Main Street in Mechanicsburg, but they’ve also got several other locations across Central PA that you may have been to. They are a Pennsylvania specialty coffee roaster whose mantra is “Make Better Coffee”. Gotta love that! All of their drinks feature Denim’s own coffee beans, roasted fresh weekly, and sold right there in-store.
An added bonus is that their storefront is perfectly aesthetic. It’s a great place to get updated pictures for your social media!
My favorite pick from the menu? Their iced latte jugs. You can order one to go and enjoy their coffee whenever!
Finding Your Go-To Coffee Shop in Mechanicsburg
If you work remotely or run your own business, where you work can make a big difference. Sometimes all it takes is a change of scenery and a good drink to get productive.
